OUTFEST L.A. at the Ford Amphitheatre (July 18-21)

Outfest Los Angeles has put together another line up of LGBTQ themed films in addition to films that celebrate and exhibit diversity and human identity. Aimed to entertain, educate and inspire the 2018 Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival returns to the Ford to screen four outstanding films. Under the Stars, preceded by the short film Flu$h, and documentary film Bad Reputation will kick off the screenings on July 18.

Brad Paisley at Honda Center (July 21)

Brad Paisley returns to So-Cal during his renowned Weekend Warrior tour 2018. Paisley’s shows will not only treat fans to his big hits performed live, but also feature special guests such as Dustin Lynch, Chase Bryant and Lindsay Ell. With a career going strong for almost two decades, Brad Paisley is one of the biggest country artists on the planet. The Chainsmokers at Hollywood Palladium (July 24)

American DJs and production duo, Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, better known as The Chainsmokers have dominated the charts with singles ‘Don’t Let Me Down’, ‘Indie Out’, ‘Closer (feat. Halsey)’ and their famous breakthrough track ‘#Selfie’.  Since their debut studio album in 2017, ‘Memories… do not open’ Chainsmokers have has a steady growth in fans and have impressed audiences worldwide. The upcoming album entitled ‘Somebody’ will be the bands second full album from which they will surely highlight a few numbers during the live show.

OC Fair (July 13- August 13)

Carnival attractions, with variety of food vendors, plus some rodeo, and a demolition derby? Why not? It’s the OC Fair. From its beginning days in 1889 this festival has grown to be one of the biggest in the area.

Paramore with Foster The People at The Forum (July 18)

Formed in 2004, in Tennessee, this alt-rock, pop-punk group has become a favorite of various types of music lovers. From their appearance or participation in films and video games, Paramore has gained fans as versatile as its sound and band members.  They will play songs from their 2017 release “After Laughter” in addition to older hits like ‘Misery Business,’ and ‘That’s What You Get” on these dates. Joining them will be L.A.’s own Foster the People, the indie rockers who made a big splash with their worldwide hit single ‘Pumped Up Kicks.’

Imagine Dragons at The Forum (July 21 – 22)

The American pop-rock band from Las Vegas returns to Los Angeles with two nights at the Forum, in Inglewood, California.  “Thunder,” “Believer,” and “Whatever it Takes,” to name a few of their giant hits. Year 2018 saw the release of “Next to Me,” and “ Born to Be Yours” in addition to the release of an HBO documentary film Believer a conversation piece  by Dragons’ lead singer Dan Reynolds focusing on the LGBT community and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The single song “Skipping Stones” featured in the film was also released with proceeds going to LGBTQ charities. The Grammy, American Music Award, Billboard Awards winning band is expected to rock their fans as they often do.

Annie the musical at Hollywood Bowl (July 27-29)

One of the longest-running shows in Broadway history is the musical Annie! The musical gave us hits such as “Tomorrow” and “It’s a Hard Knock Life” becoming one of the most beloved shows for all ages. Taking the stage for this once-in-a-lifetime celebration will be David Alan Grier as “Daddy Warbucks” Megan Hilty as “Lily St. Regis,” Lea Salonga as “Grace Farrell” and Steven Weber as “Franklin Delano Roosevelt (‘FDR’)” with more cast members to be announced.

On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio & Gloria Estefan, at the Pantages Theater (Now – July 29 2018)

On Your feet is the inspiring true story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan, celebrating heart, heritage and two people with big talent who didn’t stop believing in each other. The crowd-pleasing show is hitting the stage in Los Angeles, at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. The production has already won praises by the critics and its audiences alike, making it an exciting, anticipated musical event of this summer during which the biggest hits of Gloria Estefan will be performed.

Hall & Oates at The Forum (July 31)

The legendary duo of Daryl Hall and John Oates are back together this summer for a 37-city North American tour with special guest, pop-rock group Train at every performance, plus a finale featuring both bands together, on stage.  Since 1974 and their peak in the ’80s, Daryl Hall and John Oates have given us many beautiful, popular hit songs such as “Maneater,” “Rich Girl,” “Private Eyes,” “One on One,” “Sara Smile,” “Out of Touch,” and “She’s Gone,” just to name a few.  The duo brings their Philly soul to Los Angeles this summer for a very special concert you do not want to miss.

80s Weekend at Microsoft Theater (July 27, 28)

Ready for a flashback weekend to the 80s? The unforgettable sounds that moved a generation and beyond will be heard and seen live in downtown Los Angeles. Blondie, Adam Ant, Marc Almond of Soft Cell, Thomas Dolly and Berlin take center stage during night one with performing their famous his like ‘Call Me’, ‘Stand and Deliver’ and ‘Tainted Love’. Night two will continue the 80s celebration featuring Blondie, Adam Ant and Berlin.

KCRW’s World Festival also has its home at the Hollywood Bowl, presenting contemporary and traditional artists and a variety of world music performers.

On May 12, Iranian diva, Googoosh will reunite with her longtime composer, Hassan Shamaizadeh who composed some of her biggest hits, from Iran’s 70s pop era, that’s before the Islamic revolution put an end to popular music, sending the artist community into exile. Fans expect to hear Googoosh and Shamaizadeh perform together and solo sets of their iconic songs along with new numbers as well.

Under Conductor Gustavo Dudamel, Verdi’s masterpiece opera, Othello will be performed, on July 15, featuring Verdi specialist Russell Thomas in the title role.

Sunday Sunset Concerts highlights, this year, will include the legendary songwriter, Randy Newman (August 12) performing songs from his 11 studio albums recorded between 1968-2018

September 9, celebrating the 300^th birthday of New Orleans promises to be a special night, starring its native son, Harry Connick, Jr. in concert, with a fireworks finale.

Annie, the musical will also be performed on a Sunday (July 29) with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, directed by Michael Arden.

This with the opening day around the corner, Dodgers fans are getting excited about supporting the blue and the prospect of the team making it to the World Series.

The Dodgers are set to play a total of 28 games by the end of April 2018. Fifteen of these games will be at home, and that’s why here at L.A. Private Car Service we have been washing, and waxing our fleet of cars, vacuuming the interiors and getting ready to whisk baseball fans to the games, here in Los Angeles.

In L.A. 10 of the first 28 games will be played against teams that made the playoffs a year ago: that’s seven games against Arizona and three against Washington.

This year the 2018 MLB Season is slated to start and that’s due to a new rule in collective bargaining, because in recent years Baseball has benefited from big revenues, TV ratings, and increases in almost every channel of business in the league. Forbes reported a record revenues bump in the tune of $500 million in 2015, and fast approaching the $10 billion mark and above. The MLB minimum salary will see an increase from $507,500 in 2016 to $545,000 in 2018, and up to $555,000 in 2019. Revenue-sharing will see a few minor adjustments. The number of (market disqualified) Clubs will be go down from 15 to 13, with Oakland phased-out over four years which began in 2017. The disability time is being reduced from 15 days to 10 days.

The deal also added more off days for the team. Therefore, the Dodgers will have five off days off in April: the 5th, 9th, 12th, 19th, and 26th.

In addition, to avoid weather problems (rainouts) the Dodgers have traditionally stuck with the Pacific Time Zone until mid April and this year they will actually follow the practice until mid May, which will arrive during game #41, on May 15, as they face Miami.

On Thursday, March 29, the Dodgers will open the season, here at home, with a four-game series against the San Francisco Giants. It is a rare treat since (during a rare regular-season) both teams will have their number one, number two, three and four starters all line up perfectly.

Catcher/First Baseman Buster Posey is expected to deliver in a big way, but San Francisco too counting on rebound seasons from Brandon Belt, Brandon Crawford, Hunter Pence, Joe Panik, Mark Melancon, Johnny Cueto, and Jeff Samardzija, adding suspense and excitement to each game.

This is not the time to sit back. It is time to think about winning. The Dodgers have not won the World Series since 1988. Last year, they won 104 games and scored baseball’s best record but that didn’t get the world Series. This year, the Dodgers will bring back most of their roster and a rotation and up and down the lineup. This move can be helpful in case they face injuries and slumps. The team’s first baseman Cody Bellinger and shortstop Corey Seager should energize the team and its game while outfielder Chris Taylor aims for a solid season, doing his part as a dependable player.

Griffith Park and Griffith Observatory

The largest state park in California is home to the LA Zoo, the Griffith Observatory, a planetarium, a Greek theater, golf courses, tennis courts, hiking trails and all.  The Observatory has the Zeiss telescope that is used to view the moon and the planets.  Free public telescopes are available each evening the Observatory is open and weather permits. Hollywood

The city is a diverse blend of historic and iconic site.  It being the center of entertainment industry be prepared to see the hillside Hollywood sign, famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre, Hollywood and Highland, and Capitol Records Building.

 

The Getty Center

Designed by Richard Meier, the Getty Center is set on 110 acres overlooking Santa Monica Mountains.  The museum holds collection of European paintings, drawing, sculptures, and decorative arts. Besides the art, the grounds are so beautiful to sit and enjoy, especially during the spring and summer months.  

Santa Monica

If you are looking for the sand and the beach wrapped with boutiques and delicious spots to eat than this is the spot for you.  The Santa Monica Pier offers games, ferris wheel, arcade, and even a trapeze school.  Just off the pier is the Third Street Promenade filled with performers and shopping.  

Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum offers a collection of more than 35 million objects of natural and cultural history.  The most famous of the many permanent exhibits is the Dinosaur Hall that houses a trio of different aged tyrannosaurus (Trex) specimens in the world.  There is also the Butterfly Pavilion that houses hundreds of free-flying butterflies just within your touch.

California Science Center

This free of charge center is full of adventures and fun.  One of the main attractions is the Space Shuttle Endeavour that is on display all year long.  The center also has exhibits ranging from the living world, technology, and the ecosystems.  It is a sure hit with kids.

The Broad

The Broad, which is free of charge as well, focuses on contemporary and postwar art.  Artist such as Jeff Koons, Barbgara Kruger, Takashi Murakami, and more are on view.  Having been opened only in 2015, the museum has exceeded all attendance expectations. There are two ways to get into the museum: reserve tickets in advance on the first of each month for the following month or stand in the on the onsite standby line.

Delta Airlines has moved forward in changing the façade and face of LAX.  The airlines has taken steps in a $1.9 billion plan to modernize, upgrade, and connect Terminals 2 and 3 with Bradley Terminal at LAX over the next seven years.  The new space is said to provide all the amenities that Delta’s customers have come to expect at LAX, including a private Delta One check-in lounge, new Delta Sky Clubs, fast check-in for Delta Shuttle services, and an integrated in-line baggage system. The facility will offer convenient passenger flows, sufficient gate-area seating, and a world-class concession program.  According to Delta’s website, customers are going to spend less time in traffic as their gate is closer to the airport entrance.  Those clients coming into LAX will be able to move quickly to their destinations as there will be less wait time for gates.  The change also allows Delta to operate alongside many of its airline partners, including Aeromexico, Virgin Atlantic, and Virgin Australia. Later, a secure connection to TBIT will enable seamless access to additional partners, including Air France-KLM, Alitalia, China Eastern, and China Southern.

Here are the immediate changes that are coming.  On the evenings of May 12, May14 and May 16, a third of the 70 airlines that operate out of LAX will relocate.
